I realize the circumstances of my arrival to Nicaragua may have precluded certain other options, but the climate and building codes encourage minimal housing and Spartan lifestyles. Above is a little three room shack I built on the Rio Dulce. It's off the grid and runs completely off solar panels.

This little house nears completion in Bahia Gigante. It will house eventually the gardner for the small project called "Yoga Lots". It too will have stand alone capabilities and use the grid as back-up.

This is the house where I live now. It is tied to the grid and the only battery back-up I have is for the computers and internet. It was once a one room fish processing plant. We built another room and put a zinc roof on it.

Living simply close to nature has many benefits, Read "Walden Pond " by Henry David Thoreau who said, Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.

My good friend and photographer Tony Roberts feels it ludicrous that "someone who has gone through what you have gone through" should still live in a shack. I like to listen to people smarter than me. Here I am crossing the Rio Dulce to inspect the finial construction of my new Condo in Villa Rio Dulce. Please write with your comments. Love to hear from you.
